Holiday Insights from Jonathan Broekman

In the mad scramble to get to the end of the year and leave to go away we often forget to take time to reflect on the hard work and dedication that the people in our businesses put in to make things happen. Ronald Reagan said: "Surround yourself with the best people you can find, delegate authority, and don't interfere as long as the policy you've decided upon is being carried out."

And as much as it is not always easy to try not interfere, people get tired and edgy at the end of the year; I still strongly believe that every business relies on the people to make solid decisions every day based on their own and the company’s ethics and culture. I am fortunate enough to have an amazing team with many, many years’ experience in the property industry to bounce ideas off and get to the best working solutions for buyers and sellers. We spend many hours discussing the various challenges clients face to get their properties sold or to move in a hurry because of pressing circumstances.

Life out there is hard and trying, especially with the increase in divorce and selling due to financial problems; but we have also seen many of our long-term clients that fight hard to get back on their feet. There definitely seems to be a natural balance, bad times don’t last forever and effort can always change direction.

This is our final newsletter for 2016 and we ask that you don't be too hard on yourself and enjoy moments in the simplest things like relaxing with family and close friends. After all disagreements we still value the long term commitment of focusing on the positive and working hard to achieve our goals collectively.

We leave you with one final quote of the year:
“If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath.”
